Multi-Omics

Multi-omics analyses provide a comprehensive insight into complex biological processes and disease-associated changes. The focus is on both the understanding of molecular mechanisms and the identification, validation and interpretation of biomarker signatures.

Our focus is on the integrative analysis of proteins, lipids and metabolites in different biological matrices. In addition, we offer microbiome analyses as well as flow cytometric methods (cytomics). The fields of application range from preclinical and clinical studies, e.g. for the identification of biomarkers and surrogate markers and patient stratification, to scientific research projects with biomarker analyses in in-vitro, ex-vivo and in-vivo model systems, mechanistic analyses and comprehensive multi-omics studies.

Core Expertise:

  • Targeted Proteomics (Olink® Certified Service Provider): Diverse protein panels for tailored multiplex analyses, minimal sample requirement, analysis of human and murine samples. Further information on the panels and measurements can be found here.
  • Translational Mass Spectrometry: Lipidomics, metabolomics and proteomics approaches, global proteome analyses. Further information on the measurements can be found here.
  • Spatial Multi-Omics: imaging mass spectrometry, spatial proteomics using multiplex immunofluorescence, laser microdissection, correlative microscopy
  • Microbiome analyses: DNA extraction also from low-biomass samples, sequencing (e.g., 16S, shotgun, long-read), bioinformatic evaluation with integration into clinical data sets
  • Cytomics: Flow cytometry for the characterization of cellular composition (e.g., in whole blood samples)

Objectives/Services:

  • (Spatial) Single- & Multi-Omics analyses
  • Measurement of individual samples, cohorts, longitudinal studies
  • Development of protocols for sampling/processing and analysis from diverse matrices
  • Project support from planning to data processing and evaluation

LinCA – Low-input CSF analytics in diseases of the CNS

The aim of LinCA is to establish a platform for multi-omics analyses for the identification of biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The minimum volume of a CSF biopsy can thus be optimally utilized to gain the most diverse information possible, which can be used for diagnostics and therapy monitoring in CNS diseases.
